Let me see if I'm understanding this correctly...The cartridge sometimes does not fire??? The primer maybe has a small dent but no ignition??? But if you reload it, it will fire???

That would indicate that maybe foreign substance [dirt; grease] in breechblock/firing pin is problem...Or perhaps in linkage from trigger to firing pin (sear is often dirty/dried grease/sticking)...
