Artillery sight problems

Well, I answered my own question. I removed the sight and disassembled it. At first I noticed nothing wrong, so I removed the sight from another artillery. Well Rich (postino) was right. The small pin that latches into the notched slide was broken off at the tip. Fortunately I have a very good friend and fellow forum member who is a master jewler. He said he can weld the tip back.
