Default Alabama Gunshow

Went to gun show in Athens, Al, really pretty good. Seven Lugers,(three Erfurts, two DWMs, one S42 import, one American Eagle -$2500), several P38s, BHPs, fairly standard overall, prices were within normal range, I ended up with a Remington 03A3 with a 43 barrel, classic 1950s conversion but they didn't cut the barrel, I had a stock and forearm at home so I just need a couple of barrel bands and screws to put it back together. Its in about 90% condition and I got ot for $200.

Roadkill,

You made a good deal on the 03A3! If you don't have a source for te bands, try Springfield Sporters or Amherst Depot as they usually have these in stock. I don't think Springfield Sporters have a website, but Amherst Depot does. I don't know the address offhand, but do a search for them and you will find the site. I met the guy that owns Amherst while I was in Florida and he is a great guy and honest.

I love to shoot the 03 and the 03A3, they are the finest rifles ever built by the US. The 03 os not the best combat sights, but great target sights. I had a straight stock 03 that had 2 big pits in the barrel, but at 200 yard, I could keep 8 out of 10 shots in the X ring in prone postition. The 03A3 had better combat sights, but I never thought they were as accurate as the 1930s barrels on the 03. Great buy and let us know how it shoots.

Thanks, I've bought from Springfield sporters before. I shouldn't have any problems getting them. This one will fill space on the wall probably. It really looks good. One of my hard decisions to make when I go shooting was whether to take the M-1, M-1 Carbine, 03, or the Eddystone. Now I've added one more. I truly love the history in old military guns. Just the history, not the evil spirits. Good chance I'll be out somewhere this afternoon with it.
