You would have to do paperwork with the ATF (?) registering it as a short barreled rife. Though it was my understanding that you could put it on an Artillery model legally, But I would check first. If you are hesitant to call the ATF let me assure you that they are generally very nice people and not all of them are "out to get" us gun owners.
