Silly question just because I am new...

Just got my first Luger p08 and was firing it today.
Is it normal for it to eject brass vertically into the air? brass flies about 12 feet straight up.

I did a search on these forums and found one other reference to this:

I hope this is not a symptom of ammo that is too "hot" for this gun.
I was at an outdoor (covered) range and the brass was hitting the roof!
