Several possibilities;

1. Later rebarrel
2. Came that way from DWM (they were letting you order almost anything back then)
3. Pacific Arms or the likes offered 8 inch barrels on new and used lugers

We'd need to see close up pictures (and good full left and right), see if there are any letters or numbers on the barrel
