As of 1934 the standard cleaning kit for both P08 and K98 was the 'Reinigungsgerät 34' or RG34 for short. The well known tin box with 2 lids (one compartment holds the cleaning tools and oiler, the other holds the flax thread).

A special RG34a set was issued for the sub calibre sets. One RG34 was issued per weapon, and one RG34a was issued per 3 sub calibre sets.
