Default comments and advice solicited by newbie

I found this at Simpson's
http://www.simpsonltd.com/product_in...ac2c728dcaa06f
I want a first shooter, have been drooling over many collectible Lugers online for the past 3 days. I kinda liked the looks and features of the 1906's. The one I've linked to has the same appeal for me, and would have no problem buying it--choosing to consider it as new to me, to use and enjoy.
Is anyone able to give me any info about this kind of Luger?
What would be the risk/implications of running a few boxes of rounds per year?
I read somewhere that Simpson's is overpriced--who can verify/refute this? How fair a deal is it?
Thanks guys
David

These are good shooters and probably a good place to start. The price is pretty high, but you are paying for a real dealer with real overhead, and one with a reputation to protect, so that is worth something.
You can probably find one that has been fired but is nearly new, as none of these got used hard. And save 30% in the process.
But this gun is a good starter.

Dang! This piece, I just noticed, has the dorky looking Swiss frame! That, plus the high price-others on forums make me think it should go for around a thousand. Guess I'll pass after all.
Thanks for helping with reality check.

patience is always hard. Just look around on the sites, there are lists of them on this forum, see a search of threads, also see the sites of interests on the left of your screen (if you are using www.lugerforum.com) and watch gunbroker.
