You are correct in that the Swiss pattern is straight down the front grip strap, while the P08 style has that flair on the bottom. Not sure why they changed it, probably fewer machine steps in manufacturing. As for shootability, not much difference, maybe the flair adds to the hand hold, maybe not. I think the difference is asthetics, the flaired bottom just looks nicer to my eyes. Also I'm just guessing here but I suspect that the Swiss pattern Interarms Parabellum will bring a few dollars less than the P08 pattern. The bigger concern on those guns is barrel length and caliber.
Everyone should have one to shoot, for a while at least.
