I didn't have the opportunity to stop by the shop tuesday as I'd planned. I've taken note of all the advice I've gotten here, and I think I can look at it again from a more "well armed" perspective.
I've made the rounds of some of the few remaining shops here in Los Angeles that have Lugers and I've seen some in that same price range of $700 +-, and they're better than the one I'd posted questions about. Oh well, I already have one Luger, so maybe I'll just save up my pennies and get an artillery model, which is what I really want anyway. Whatever happens, thanks all for your good and timely advice.
