Gentlemen, I need to take a guess at the value of the Luger and holster for my insurance company. I intend to keep the weapon and a friend with contacts at the National Marine Museum has expressed interest in possibly displaying the piece on loan for a year. I would appreciate any insight that the folks on this forum may have about the value of the Luger/Holster as well as the Nambu if anyone cares to take a guess at that one.
Thanks, Randy |

Whew...as a AWG (amateur wild guess), discounting the provenance, I'd say if your Luger (the most elegant model, I think with the 4 3/4 barrel and scalloped toggles) would be worth about 3500.00 if the right side was as nice as the left...as it is, about 2800.00? No idea what you could add for the documentation and the history.
The Nambu, as a nice later model, isn't worth as much as a small trigger guard pre-war model, but as a rig, that about more than compensates. I'd guess the pistol itself is about a 550.00 gun and add about 300.00 more for the holster, spare pin and the very rare box of original ammo. |

![]() I paid about $5k for everything so maybe I'll just use that amount as a compromise. It's a bit high for strict gun value but I suspect a bit low considering the historical significance. |
