Stick with quality. Go with an Hecker & Koch USP 45 fullsize or compact version. The Hk is also family with the Luger in a "down the line" kind of way.

My entry into .45s was the Beretta PX4. One of the softest shooting .45s I've ever shot, due to its rotating barrel.

Not stock, by the way. I liked the design so much that my new range gun was the 9mm version.

I find this one concealable, just stick it on my hip and she's there, and yes, I have lost 30 pounds since coming over here, so maybe I can't conceal it as well. But for that "safety" feeling, nothing like a 1911A1 type in my hand...
