Ed,
How about this? I have pondered this questions and I think I have the answer. What if Lugers were not numbered as they are; for instance only a frame serial? No full serial anywhere else and no small parts numbered. Would Lugers be collectable at all? Would they be as desirable as they are now? I think there would be much less interest, but just the beauty and handling of the Luger makes it a desirable keep sake. Mike |

well, sure they would be, think of our 1911A1, that is exactly how they are numbered; then as a collector you have to figure out what parts make it correct.
Imagine lugers with no serial numbers and we'd still figure them out by stamps of acceptance or how the part was made? Ed |
