Default I'm new & confused

My father in law passed on last summer, he didn't serve in WWII so where this P08 came from is a mystery. The wife said he had TWO of them sequenceally (?) numbered. I moved her family from CT to MO last fall. I found all the long rifles, and a 1974 S&W 38/357 revolver. No lugers. He told my wife he dismantled one then threw it out because it fired itself. As her brothers were all felons I decided they were gone. I'm a Maintenance/Electronics Tech and I have tons of tools kept inside 2 roll around toolchests. I inherited a small roll around from her Dad, I glanced in the drawers and rolled it into the corner of my shop...it sat there for 2 months. After going through the drawers I was removing trash from the lower end of it and found wrapped in a rag the pistol grip of a Luger!!! I then fine toothed combed the whole box. I ended up with all the parts for a luger with the exception of a grip screw, locking lever, and the firing pin spring retainer (there was a brass thing I believe he was trying to use in its place which would explain the firing itself) I'll have to take better pics to post.

DWM on top toggle

ON front of strap (Unit Mark?) S. AT. II 1416

Waffenant Acceptance Mark on right side of slide...
...wide eagle stamp with W2A66 under it
Also on right side of slide....
....narrower eagle with H under it

On the left side of slide is the crowned N with a M 91 to the right of it

M91 is on the front of the trigger guard

91 is stamped on All the parts except the above mentioned missing parts which I purchased from SARCO Arms in NJ

I assembled the pistol, loaded it, and emptied the mag...it worked flawlessly.

The mag has a alloy (alum colored) butt plug with 6334 stamped on it...it has P08 ... fxo ...a small eagle with 37 under it stamped on the closed side of the mag.

I've been told lots of things from lots of folks and after looking at your markings section I'll let you guys tell me what this thing is.

Thank-you for your time.
