Many years ago, probably close to 40, an advanced collector brought an authentic Rock Island Arsenal US Test Trials holster to Bob McNellis of El Paso Saddlery to be re-stitched. While it was there Bob asked for permission to make a pattern from the original.. Permission was granted and since that time EPS has made the most authentic reproduction Test holster available. There are some very minior differences so that the repro can't be passed off as an original.

Many thanks, Ron:
I knew I had read somewhere that some holsters for that vintage were made by El Paso saddlery but didn't know how old they were. So appareently they are a good likeness to the Rock Island ones. Appreciate. Apparently you are in El Paso so who would know better than you. I was in El Paso for about two weeks, in 1961. We were at White Sands to fire off a couple of missles. Went to Juarez many times. Wow, what an experience for a bunch of 19 year old Air Force types. Jack |
