Mike,
Don't confuse reenactors with Nazi simpathysers. I reenact WW2 GI 2nd. Infantry Division and I am also occasionally called upon to do German Fallschirmjager if not enough Germans show up at an event or public battle. Here in the US, at least, Nazi simpathysers are quickly drummed out of the hobby. An overwhelming majority of the guys I know who do German full time are quality people who have an interest in history, period weapons and the experience of reliving the period to the extent that it is possible. Many are vets. Many are fire and police. The guys who have the expensive toys, (vehicles, heavy machineguns or rare gear/equiptment) are doctors and lawyers. I know of several instances were nazi types showed up at events and were quickly escorted away. The hobby will not stand for it. We are simply telling a story, just like Clint Eastwood, Richard Burton, Harrison Ford, Christopher Plummer, Tom Selleck, Tom Cruise, and any other hollywood star who has worn a Nazi era uniform are..
