ON MONDAY DECEMBER 31 2001 AT 1:19 AM E-MAIL WAS SENT TO ME FROM THE SHADOW KNOWS EGESTA@SEATTLEINSIDER.COM. HE SAID THAT HE COULD NOT RESIST SENDING ME A SICK HICKEY JOKE!!!! HE MADE FUN OF ME NAME AND OF MY SEX. MY NAME IS ROBERT HICKEY AND I AM PROUD OF MY NAME AND OF MY FAMILY. I JUST JOINED THE P-O8 FORUM NOT TO SEND SICK EMAIL ON THE MESSAGE BOARD. I DO NOT THINK THIS IS FUNNY, I WANT TO KNOW WHAT YOU ARE GOING TO DO ABOUT THIS . BEFORE I DO ANYTHING I WOULD LIKE TO HEAR FROM FROM YOU ALL. THANK YOU ROBERT A. HICKEY

Sorry to hear about this Robert, I think we see this very rarely on the forum. Most of the posters are polite gentlemen and ladies. ~Thor~

I'm sorry that happened, this goes back to some people thinking it is acceptable to use derogatory terms for races, people and cultures.

To the person writing the "remark", it might be perfectly harmless or they feel it is funny. But to the recipient, it is mean and not acceptable.

Since you asked, here are my two cents. I'm wondering how much of a forum issue it is since the message board wasn't used, but private email instead.

It's easy to not think something through before hitting the send button. Did you email the Shadow about this?

Robert, without knowing the content of the message, I'm reluctant to condemn anyone, but I have found that over time, the jerks don't last long here. And the webmaster has even been known to terminate a few occasionally. The result is a generally splendid group of guys and gals. Sorry you were upset.
