Default 1914 DWM Luger Production Figures?

Does anybody know, how many military DWM Lugers were produced in 1914? Thanks

According to John Walter, DWM made 36,000 and Erfurt 122,000 in 1914. These figures include the LP08 (artillery Luger).

Of the 38,000 1914 DWM lugers, it is estimated that 750-1500 were LP.08s or artilleries.

Anybody got one for sale?

I think that number may be a bit high.

There is a page on BB giving an estimation. The numbers were based on observed s/n, I copy the chart here.

282 - 6212c, no suffix 10K + a block 10K + b block 10K + c block 6200+, total is around 36.2K, approximated to 40K. Obviously, no d suffix has ever been observed.

Please note, this chart has typo. e.g. 1915, to reach 100K, suffix d is not enough and suffix i is needed. I would assume that's a typo, either 100K or d suffix. Lended my books to a friend, no way to check at this moment.

..... other years, 1913, 1917, 1918 had similiar mismatching..... What did I miss here?

Please check the "Erfurt 122,000 in 1914." The figure seems excessive. Based on sn data, it is estimated that 7,000 Erfurt P08s and 23,000 Erfurt LP08s were dated 1914, see Table 1a page 3 Central Powers Pistols.

Jan,

I was quoting "The Luger Book" by John Walter, page 218 in my 1986 edition. For observed serial numbers on 1914 Erfurts he states 9159 low, 1052m high. If these observations are correct; 122,000 makes sense to me - especially when considering the outbreak of WW1 that year. Unfortunately I do not have your excellent "Central Powers Pistols".

BTW, I sent you a mail a while ago, asking if you had any "Axis Pistols" left.
