With the short u. It's pronounced exactly like the English rust.
The Dutch word for the English rust (as in oxidation) is pronounced as 'roost' (roest), however. There is a saying 'Rust Roest' (translated as 'rest rusts', basically meaning that not using something will lead to its decay). This ends the Dutch lesson for today
