I would be careful about foam packing. The chemicals used to make some of it will cause rust. A test would be in order before I put a fine firearm alongside it.

Although not on-topic, some of the white foam boxes used to pack rifles will absorb oil...I have an old Norinco foam box for an AK-47 copy I bought back in the 70's that is used to hold a newer AK clone and the foam has absorbed some of the oil on the rifle...Doesn't seem to be breaking the foam down, but taking oil away from the rifle was not my intent...

I have been using medium density foam, cut to fit, to store my Lugers for over 10 years now. I wipe them down with a silicone cloth every once in a while and have noticed no deleterious effects.
Fred, I bought my foam at a furniture store, now out of business, that did custom upholstery. You might try your local Yellow Pages. Regards, Norm
