The best and recommended thing to do is to determine the era that you are interested in. Pre - WWI, Imperial, Weimar or Third Reich Mausers, and concentrate on that variation. Once you have the basics down, then you can branch your interests to other variations. It's nearly impossible to learn them all at once.
