Jon, what does it stink like?

This might take a while but get a couple of boxes of Arms and Hammer baking soda, put them opened, but not on the holster inside of a small box, but big enough to keep the things away form your holster.

If it takes away smells in the fridge, it ought to be okay for your holster.

I am sure one of those ionizers like they show you that suck away ammonia and smoke smells would work also, but I am unsure where you would get one. (Like those demonstrations at the county fair?)

Ed is right. I would dump a box directly into the holster and after a day or two shake it out and blow it all out with compressed air. Sprinkle it all over the outside as well. The more the merrier, it won't hurt anything. Jerry Burney

Jerry Burney

So I hadn't looked, it is JON, sounds like (yawn) not JOHN.

I had a tool kit that smelled so bad i finally threw it away, that plastic barf smell.

Of course I don't think you should throw the holster away!

Old fashioned moth ball are an excellent deodorizer. Especially for any mold, bacteria. I am not sure of the effect on the leather. I would try the baking sodafirst. If that does not work, put a half dozen mothballs in a shoe box with it, then remove the moth ball oder with another baking soda treatment.

Default Odor Removers

Jon, etc. even though you are working with holsters, I can recommend a couple of products that remove odors - they are tested and designed for catterys, specifically for urine and territory marking. Therefore I am sure that it could and would work for this specific problem too. Most of these products are in the US. Will give telephone contact numbers. Ranked in order of best products first.

Tuff Oxi 310-574-3252; Urine Erase 519-285-2083 (Canada); Dumb Cat Antimarking 760-433-5696; Mother Nature's Odor R'mver 800-333-7254; and Odorzout Stop Odors Pet Powder 800-887-8465.

Even though baking soda can and will work, it does not work on some chemical compositions and it does not hurt to have a back up product! Good Luck, Ellie Burney

Try putting some sheets a Bounce in it. Bounce is a scented fabric softner that you put with clothes in a dryer. One of the hints for housewives states that Bounce is a good odor remover and should not hurt the item.
