So, these are assembly line gauges; not something a field armorer would have...My mistake...
I was thinking these would be used to correct for sighting deficiencies...I know there were at least 3 different height front sights (from the CD blueprint); I was thinking if a Luger shot too low/high, you would measure the height of the sight and go to the next higher/lower... ...But I couldn't figure out the rear sight gauge...

Since the gauge has "WaA", I would assume it's used by Army Inspector for gun acceptance. He's supposed having a bunch of gauges to measure key parameters (headspace, sight height, etc) before his Eagle over something seal could be stamped on the gun.

Thank you for correcting me, a lesson in hurried postings... again. With the examples of similar tools in my collection I have assumed the gauges use. "I throw myself under the bus on that one." Regards, Robert I have two "factory" gauges for posting should we need to see how those gauges were marked. |
