An amazing piece! I agree the details are a little off but just boggles the mind what some of these guys are cranking out of their own home/shop! Even the tooling and crafstmanship alone is incredible, being a metalworker myself, i can really appreciate all the effort

W.B.,
I'm not sure what you are trying to say. Whatever it is, it looks original and authentic and old. I don't think somebody "faked" it in his workshop, and these don't look like reloads. I just don't know what it is or when it was made. But I imagine it came from F.N., as marked...sometime or other. But then, who knows? |

Sorry for the delay. Spent some time looking at Simpson's newly listed Cone Hammers. Looking for an appropriate CH with matching stock, .....
Regarding the hand made, I agree 100% it's great. You guys playing metal machines at home knew how hard it is to create one. I am thinking about creating a wood one at home if possible. Hard. The ammo.... please take a look. Thanks for joining discussion! |

Postino,
My brain got tangled up. ![]() Alvin, Great pics of the case heads. At this point, can you determine the exact vintage? |

I hope I knew. Looks like being FN no doubt, but I could not identify the year. Some FN cartridges have two digits on the head telling the year ... F N 70, F N 57. Not sure that's a post WWII practice or not, 1957 and 1970?
But what's F N * ? |

That's what I was wondering...just when they started putting on year digits.

Here is a "40" on a 1940 FN 8x57 AP. The following page has quite a few headstamps, including some FN ones, but I did not see the combination of FN and *
