Greetings all!
I recently came across this mystery holster and simply cannot manage to identify it. It was buried in a deceased friend's attic. I've attached a few pictures I just took of it. If you want more let me know. Thanks in advance! |

My best guess. A luger holster from a converted Rast-Gasser Austrian 8mm revolver holster. It originally had shoulder straps attached. Also looks like it had GI type hanger at one time. Interesting holster. Welcome to the forum. Bill

The holster is a little rough and has been modified, but it sure looks like it is made of some nice gun leather. IMO

Thanks guys. After looking at it a bit more I noticed a "362" lightly stamped on the magazine sleeve.

Your holster is a 1912 Steyr holster converted for a Luger. There's one identical to it on page 28 of Whittington's German Pistols and Holsters Vol. III.

Ron
I still think this is a converted Rast Gasser. . Look at page 15 in Benders book Military Holsters of World War 2. The stitching on the back where the straps were is identical to the one in Bender. I thought about a Steyr but usually they have a pouch on the front. This holster has no sign of anything being on the Front. Also Freds holster has an added piece to widen the holster at the top. Interesting conversion . One thing for sure it's one or the other. Bill

Hi Bill,
You could be right. I'm not sure,I was just going by Whittington's photo and description. Possibly he was mistaken. Ron
