Vern,
My M2 #3803 looks like your first photo... top left. It has 28 lines inside each leg of the M, as apposed to 21 lines, second photo, top right. The crown is more angular also. There are some subtle differences though.

Thanks Mike!

The different crests seem to be intermixed, I guess this could be multiple assemble lines doing production at the same time, this was a fairly large contract.

I still think I see 3 to 5 variations and hope members will post pictures of their guns crest for us to see clearly.

In general there has been very little research done on Portuguese Lugers, there's lots still to learn. Thanks for sharing!
