John, thank you. An excellent post
Alvin, first, the President does NOT set the taxes, Congress does. The President can recommend a bill or veto one he does not like, but he does not have the power to levy taxes. That detail aside you make an excellent point. Someone must pay the piper. Usually it's the corporations who just pass it on; the rich who often can pass it on; and the middle class who pay the taxes and the passed on costs. Also the taking the hit are lower income groups who may pay little taxes but who the passed on costs hit the hardest. |
