Very good question, very difficult to answer. The companies used many subcontractors for small parts, but also had enough means to produce everything themselves. Parts of the stocks may have been subcontracted, but it is my gut feeling that they were assembled at DWM / Erfurt themselves. Pages 31 and 32 of 'Moderne Gewehrfabrikation' show the shaft production facilities at FN and Mauser. They used copying machines to carve out the rough shapes for the rifle stocks. Since these companies did their own shaft making, it's not that difficult to conclude that a simple wooden object like an LP08 shoulder stock could be made at their own facilities pretty easily and quickly. |
