Grandpa's Luger
I am humbled by all of the knowledge on this board. I inherited this Luger from my Grandpa. He told me that he bought it from a guy who had a pair of them many years ago. The guy claimed to have brought them back from WWII after having liberated them from a Nazi who no longer needed them. That seems to be the story of quite a few Lugers though, huh?
I would love to know more about the gun. I am going to attempt to attach a few pics for starters. |

German "Nitro" commercial proof. Found on Lugers produced after 1920. Receiver proof is upright
(According to the "Technical Information" link (best I can tell) |

Tim, welcome to the forum!
Is it in 9mm or 7.65mm (30 luger)? is there a date on the top? Most likely there is not. It is a commericial variant and almost appears reblued, but we'd need more and a bit bettter pictures to tell. ed

Hi Edward,
I am embarrassed to admit, I don't know how to tell if it is 9mm or 7.65mm (30 luger). Any tips on that? |

If a regular yellow pencil will fit down the barrel it is 9MM. If it will not, it is .30 Luger.
