Default 1916 Navy Luger

Hello: I could use some information if possible. I have a 1916 Navy Luger with a medallion or coin inletted into the left grip. It is an eagle with a couple of letters on the bottom. Has anyone seen anything like this? It looks to have been there for a very long time and was done by a professional. Any help would be appreciated. I will try to post the photo here but if not, you can email me at rwcutah@msn.com Thanks

This is a small german coin. The shape of the eagle dates it before 1888. The small letters indicate the mint wehre it was made. If the coin is made of copper it is 1 Pfennig or 2 Pfennig. If made of nickel it would be 5 or 10 Pf.. In case that it is silver it would be 20 Pf, or 50 Pf.
Regards, Armin.
