Required reading!!

A wonderful account, and one worthy of national news coverage...Can't help but wonder "why" we have built a society that won't cover this sort of thing, and prefers to languish on doom, defeat, and gloom.
As to Mr. Kachel's comments on the CIC, I am not and never will be a Bush apologist, nor do I see everything eye-to-eye with this administration. However, I think, regardless of one's personal politics, that a thoughtful observer must ask himself if things would be "better" had the other guy won the last election. Especially for the Iraqis. I don't see how, especially after reading more and more accounts such as the one above.
God bless our troops, and keep them safe. You can bet to a man they'd all have much rather been here this Christmas (regardless of their religion!).
Oddly, (knowing they'd all rather be here), I keep finding myself wishing I could dust off my old USMC "cover" and head over there. If I were only twenty years younger. I can still fit under my "cover", but the rest of the uniform seems to have shrunk somehow...
