I never got my 'Mauser' marked mags to work properly, as you say, very, very tight springs.

The post war Mauser Parabellum was designed around the Haenel/Schmeisser model magazine and the Dutch company that made the Mauser magazines had troubles getting their magazines to work the way they should. Eventually Mauser even sent a Haenel magazine to the Dutch company as a pattern specimen. Quality improved after that action.
