Back in the early days, the Texas Rangers and many Texas lawmen had "everyday" or working guns and fancy guns they carried on special occasions like court appearances, Bar B Ques, and other social functions. These fancy guns were usually engraved, nickel plated, and had MOP, Ivory, or Stag grips and came to be known as "Bar B Q Guns". The term is not widely known or used outside of Texas. Here's one that I picked up this weekend at a Houston gun show:
