After all these years it seems like I should be able to replace a locking bolt spring easily and without breaking them. What is the secret??? Thanks Bill

Are you positive there is nothing in the channel causing it to set up higher than it should??? Have you tried another bolt stop just incase?? Are these replacements from the same lot or originals?? Rick B

They may have been harden a bit to much if they are to be at all. When you put pressure on them they snap. There are some here who sell orignals if you put up a looing for ad. Rick B

Bill,
On reproduction locking lever springs, the pin which goes through to the bottom of the frame ahead of the trigger guard is slightly too large for the hole. It will stick every time, and break either when you attempt to force it farther in, or try to remedy your mistake and take it back out. If there is any resistance at all when you begin to insert it, take some emery paper or crocus cloth and reduce its diameter slightly. --Dwight |

I got several from Numerich one time that had been over-hardened and everyone of them broke trying to install. Bought some more from Tom Heller and had no problem with them. I have found that it helps to file the sides of the bend and the top of the long arm at the bend a little bit to make them sit further down into the slot and give the bolt a little more clearance.
