Both guns look pretty good with 2870 being the better of the two. Very nice original strawing with only normal wear on the muzzle and side plate on that gun. The grip safety has the number 07 and so has the right grip. (right numbers, wrong sequence) Left grip not numbered. Matching four digit number under barrel and front of frame. 70 is on trigger and locking bolt. Light wear on grips.
The 2871 gun shows little more wear on the straw and on the left rabbit ear under the thumb safety. All serial numbers on the metal of the gun are appropriate as is the left grip. The right grip has a small dent but checkering is good and the number on that one is 17. Right numbers, wrong sequence again. Neither of the guns has any pitting and the circled triangle proof mark is in the same location on both guns (left side of frame and under toggle lip on the rear of the gun). Original mags with both guns (no serial number, but proof marked). Very nice price of $2800 for both guns (including shipping) from Collectors Firearms in Houston, Texas in 2003. That was a good buy, even in those olden days. Big Norm |
