I'm not really into design.. but the Germans sure had some good looking uniforms! Many where probably mistaken for officers.

If you're unable to take pictures of the Luger, the short way to learn more about it would be to

1. Check if it's matching in numbers,
2. Check the maker on top of the toggle
3. Find out if it's a navy, artillery or regular 4". Markings on frame and receiver. Look for sear-, mag-, and grip safety. Import marks. 9mm or 7.65. Reblued ++++

But.. pictures are always great, make things more interesting
