Your right Mr. Tinker, spending a hundred dollars or more on books would have told me the frame "might" be fire damaged and books would also tell me when and "possibly" who converted the frame to a Carbine. Is there a book that will tell me these things? I seriously doubt it. Or, I should have spent another 1K+ in airfare, rental car, food, etc. to New Mexico and inspected first hand eventhough I couldn't take it with me because I'm out of State. Or, I could have imposed myself on a Luger expert in New Mexico to inspect it for me. If the Luger frame was brought back to the USA from Mexico without the proper paperwork (luggage bringback) there would be no import marks. It is much easier than you may think. There are guns in the USA which have never been recorded in any fashion. It depends what circles of people you know.

No, if the frame is discovered to be worthless and I cannot return it, I will cut it to keep it out of circulation and make it a paperweight. What I don't need is condescending attitudes from people concerning what I should or should not have done which is hindsight. Mr. Adams webpage link is in this forum and I choose to believe that you Luger "experts" would have checked him out before adding his link to protect the members. I hope for the best but prepare for the worst.

My original question, "I don't know what type parts I need. Carbine, PO8, early or late.", was never answered.

Nuff Said. I think I'm about done with this forum and Lugers. Take care all.
