Default Mr. Buxton's copyright

Hi, John. Thanks for the welcome home. 'preciate it. Concerning Mr. Buxton's copyright, I still think the most prudent and courteous course is to simply e-mail a request to Mr. Buxton to include some of his data here on the forum. I agree; he might appreciate a little publicity. On the other hand if he refuses permission, it defers any trouble for the forum and its webmaster.

Now, for my masterful legal analysis of this weighty matter: (1) I'll defer to Roger's comment that a copyright continues for 75 years after the holder's death. (2) In Buxton, volume three, there appears "copyright 1990...No portion of this book may be reproduced, copied or duplicated by any means, or by any system including data storage...without prior consent of the author. Reviewers are exempted...for the purpose of quoting brief passages...OR INCLUSION IN ARMS OR HISTORICAL TYPE PERIODICALS". (My emphasis). (3) The issue, therefore, is whether this forum could reasonably be deemed an "arms or historical type periodical?

I reiterate, however: Why create a problem; which we can obviate by simply asking Mr. Buxton for his permission?

Quod erat demonstratum, res ipsa loquitor and other phrases to drive up my fees.
