Default Atf

In July I sent in my renewal for my C&R. Either the ATF or USPS lost my renewal application, so my license expired in August. I contacted the ATF, which is not easy. Everytime I've called, I get a recording that says they are busy taking other calls. I leave a message with my number and wait a few days and then call again. It usually takes a week to get a hold of anyone.

After I finally get to talk to someone, they now say I need to fill out an application for a new license. I asked if they would send me an new application. A couple weeks later the application arrives. I open it up and it contains cards for fingerprints, enivronmental information. It looks like this is a Class 1 FFL application.

This used to be easy. What has happened? Any suggestions on who I can contact.

Tracy you can download the correct applications forms, but I don't have the URL handy... Just remember that they are supposed to be printed on LEGAL size paper, not LETTER... no need to ask them for the forms again and waste anymore time... Good Luck. Maybe someone has the URL address for the forms handy and will post it here...

One more thing... Priority Mail will get it to them in less than 3 days and if you buy the postage at USPS.com, and print the label at home, the delivery confirmation is FREE instead of an extra .50 at the Post Office counter... at least that way you can show that it was actually delivered to the ATF.

John,

I searched on the internet for more information. One of the sites states that you are not allowed to use a downloaded copy anymore. I was able to order the correct form from the ATF site.

Yes, when I applied for my C&R they said that the downloadable PDF form was no longer available and that they changed the form. The other form where you state your name twice and declare that you are from the United States (Certification of Compliance with 18 U.S.C. 922(g)(5)(B)) is now part of the new application so there is no need to include the seperate paperwork for that one.

There is an "OMB" number in the upper right hand corner of each page. I scanned each page in after I completed the forms for my records, When I get home I can blank out my personal info (they want your SS# on the top of each page) and post it in case anyone is interested in what it looks like. I do not however know how to make it into a PDF so I would just put it up on photobucket or something. The form states that the revision was made in May of 2005.

The SS # requirement doesn't sound like it's a legal requirement to me. But then it's the BATF, they are infamous for writing their own laws.

I believe they state the SS# is an option on the form. It is a double document and has a secondary for the local law enforcement.

I was able to e-mail off the ATF website and they responded and mailed out the app in just about 3 days and I had the license in 2 weeks.

But, no method to the madness sometimes I guess
