Wayne, welcome to the forum! Yes, we'd like pictures and full serial number, to include suffix on the front of the frame. However, i can tell you a lot from the info you gave me;
1940 is the year it was accepted into service 42 is the code for Mauser, who made the luger in 1940 Eagle 655 is the proof and acceptance markings Edward Tinker SSG, USA Retired PS: I retired to Palouse, WA, but the job took me to Colorado
