Default Aluminum base 42 replacement mag

Bought this from a guy, sight unseen, this and two P38 mags. The p38's are a walther marked mag and a "a" spreework magazine (they are on P38 forum right now) and this 42 marked replacement magazine.

Hi Ed, if the body is blue (it's tough to tell from the pics), it's probably a ligit magazine. If it's a nickel plated body, the bottom has been added to a early magazine. Blue tubes started in late 1936, while Code 42 Lugers began in 1939.

Is 42 a known Mauser spare parts/replacement code? I am familiar with the S/42 replacement parts, but I will appreciate the education on this part.

Ed

Nice armorer's replacement Luger mag. I have a couple of these myself. They are not easily found.

Dwight,
According to Still, both S/42 and 42 are Mauser replacement codes.
