I'll check, but I'm sure for the serial number with small S letter, and byf 42...
S is after k or L, so why did you say "too early"? It seems to be of the last lugers manufactured by Mauser.

Theirry, the 42 byf production began in the B-Block and ended in the N-Block. Most of the M & N - Blocks were contract pistols to either Portugal or Bulgaria!! So a "s" is either too early or too late!! I said too early because it couldn't be too late, since none were made after the "n"!! |

My first luger which I purchased today has the number 440 i and no bore gauge
It has an eagle with 135 stamped under it on the barrel along with the Nazi eagle. |
