I don't worry much about bears or cougars. I do like to be armed whenever possible, however, especially in the woods. At such times I carry a variety of guns depending on mood and circumstances. 454 Casull, .44 mag, and .45 Colt seem to comfort me most. I have at times relied on lowly .22's even in bear and lion country.

I've only killed one black bear. I've called in two mt. lions, one within 10 feet and the other 15 feet. At those distances a firearm is a comfort. Lotsa fun!
