Default 1917 DWM Value

Last Saturday I saw a nice DWM 1917 9mm Artillery luger. I was told that it had all matching numbers including the magazine but there was no stock. The numbers on the outside all matched including the magazine, but I did not check any numbers on the inside. I am not sure how to rate a gun but the bluing looked good for its age, it was all there but it was dull. For my untrained eye there did not appear to be any rust or pitting. The left grip was missing a small piece by the safety. I have only handled a few lugers but the machining and workmanship on this older luger impressed me. The tolerances were so tight that I had to really look to see the parting line between the ejector and the frame. It all looked like one piece. The back of the frame was not beat up so I appears that it was not shot allot. The rifling looked ok for a 89 year old gun. The action felt silky smooth and when I pulled the lug up slightly and pulled the trigger to set the striker for storage, the action closed by itself. I did not think to take a photo or copy down the markings to post here.

With this limited information and no photo, what would this Luger be worth???

The asking price was $1750.

Thanks

Sounds about fair....surf some of the dealers list and see what you find in that price range...

Chris,

If in factory orginal finish and all small parts match and the bore is in good shape...that is a very good price.

Ask the seller/dealer to throw in a 3-5 day inspection period, no quesitons asked return policy and have them make a statement IN WRITING to you if they claim it to be factory original and all matching and to describe their return policy.

Then post photos if you buy it...members can help you from there.

I looked at my finances this morning and reluctantly decided that I can not afford it. I bought two guns in the last two months and $1750 is a bit steep for me right now.

The gun is at Bob's Gun Exchange in Orange County New York.
They have a website at http://www.ocshooters.com/B/bobs/bobs.htm
