Default lube/cleaner/solvent/preservative/toothpaste

OK........ I was lying about the toothpaste.

Seriously now:

Back when I was trying my hand at "Cowboy action" there was a product that was considered the what all and end all at the time.

"BALLISTOL"

For all appearences, it was the Teutonic equivalent of good old American Frontier "Snake Oil".

"Good for whatever ails you"

Briefly:

Invented in 1904 in response to a German Army requirement.

Engineered to be usable an all metals, leather and wood.

Tested, type classified, and fielded by the German Army and used until 1945.

What could be more appropriate for a Luger?

Claims for Qualities:

* Lubes better than most gun oils

* Will never gum or harden

* Inhibits Corrosion

* Dissolves copper,tombac and lead from chambers and barrels

* Cleans bores of fouling.

* Protects wood stocks against humidity

* Emulsifies with water displacing it from metal.

What's not to like?

I had some left over from my "Lone Ranger days and;

tried it on "The Bloody Beast".

It seems to work fine.

I have some copy that came with mine detailing its use on firearms. It is 2 pages of tight copy.

If anybody is interested; e-mail me and I will forward it to you.

You can get full information ( and order it if you wish) at:

NO > I am not a distributor and do not have stock in the company.

Just trying to pass along what could be a useful product.
