Jerry, My Airborne Comrade in Arms

Thanks you so much for your understanding and kind words.

I can only counsel you to let the grief take it's course. The pain you will feel is the visceral, deep in your core, pain that you last felt many years ago in SEA, when a bud got waxed.

I believe it is good to go through the grieving process with openness. I had my tears and I felt as tho my heart was being ripped out. Afterwards, after the viewing, after the friends and the visitation, after the wonderful funeral, after the coffin was closed forever, when all were gone from the gravesite, I gave a little "shave and a haircut, two bits" knock on the coffin, as I had done on her front door for many years , and said, "Bye, Mom. See ya' down the road."

And this chapter ends.
