Default Brown Widow Arrives

Just picked up the Brown Widow Luger from AIM that was discussed previously in great lenghts on the forum. The Luger has the typical Dipped Ukranian dark finish. It is a 1940 S/42 matched except for the rear toggel axel pin and Firing pin which have the numbers defaced also typical and the Safety Lever does not have the last two digets stamped on it but appears original to gun (I know how do you tell all Luger parts look alike to me). The GRIPS are definitely Krieghoff they match those appearing on Page 46 of Gibson's book THE KRIEGHOFF PARABELLUM Listed as Course Checkered Brown models and of course have some wear on grips. Luger has some light pitting on barrel and some very small areas on frame but all proofs and acceptance marks are sharp E/655 etc. Serial number is 2206h which falls in the 42 1940 listed range.Luger has light import stamp under barrel and is one of the Century Armas group brought in several years back. It appears that the Luger is one of the out of sequence production serial numbered items that Still talks about in his book on The Third Riech Lugers (page 91), again I can't verify this. Bore is good so can make a good shooter it also serves as a PLACE HOLDER in my collection until another comes along. Than of course it is Import marked so I can not pass it off as something it isn't. I'm satisfied with the purchase it was advertised and explained to me fairly by Bryan at AIM and than it also now lets everyone who had their ideas about what it was from the Forums lengthy discussion know what it is or isn't. Tried to run some pictures of the grips on the Scanner but could not get the file small enought to post (my first attemt at this) so you all will have to take my word on what I hold and can observe. I am willing to send the grips for observation to a neutral member if any douths on my identification of same. Maybe I lucked out or not. However, have a Luger which according to books would have been made in limited numbers, and have a set of grips that our semi-rare, all in all I am happy with my Birthday present (6/17/33) to myself. If anyone has any questions on same let me know. Oh yes has a ground bottom wooden Mag with number 2 and I think the proof would have been a C/II the II is still there so the mag must have been issued to the Wiemer Police at one time. I have not seen that type of marking on a mag, I do have a Wiemer era Holster with a C/III on it so conjecter on the meaning of the Mag bottom on my part.
