Post antitank pistol

"This weapon could also fire the same array of signal flares as the Leuchtpistole, which made it a convenient dual purpose weapon. If the weapon could fire a more potent cartridge, then the weapon may have had some real use. Which is exactly what Walther thought.

With that idea in mind, the Wurfk¶rper ammunition was developed. They were essentially hand grenades attached to shafts which were inserted into the gun and fired. After experimentation with overly heavy warheads from the 'potato masher' it was decided to use lighter 'egg grenade' rounds. These rounds could travel to about 80 meters. In total under 300,000 Wurfk¶rper rounds were made.

Caliber: 26.7mm
Weight: 745 grams
Length: 42.5 cm
Range: 100 yards
Feed: 1 cartridge (no magazine)

This weapon is the total evolution of the anti- tank 'grenade pistol' concept. Prior attempts were made to use anti-tank rounds in the Kampfpistole, but they proved very inaccurate and ineffective. This new weapon was produced by Walther and Erma, and around 275,000 were made by the wars end."
