AH HA! I've done it!!!

NO, I didn't put the screw driver through my hand!

Did as suggested, with a little modification of my own.

Lifted the leading adge of the spring to clear the detent of the bar; slipped a fine jewelers screwdriver under the lip of the spring resting between the bar and the spring; Then placed a similar screwdriver against the leading edge of the spring and slid it out of the groove no problem. It was very easy....in this particular case.
