What the database tells us

All,

As the database grows, some interesting things are bubbling up that challenge commonly held viewpoints.

For instance:

1. We have 3 examples reported of 1918 Navy pistols, dispelling the common misconception that there were none produced in 1918.

2. We have numerous examples of 1914 Models with grip strap markings, some as late as 1917, putting the lie to the notion that this practice ended much earlier.

3. We have encountered two pistols with different SN yet having the same property numbers.

As more data is received and analyzed, I feel certain some additional "revelations" will become apparent; For Example: Gov Kiau markings (8 reported) are 8 times more common than U (U-boat; 1 reported and UA (U-boat Abteilung 2 reported) and WD (Danzig)markings (3 reported) are really rare compared to Wilhelmshaven (18 reported) and Kiel (17 reported). FWIW, we have a total of 328 Imperials, 35 Weimar and 49 Third Reich pieces reported.
